Interactive Lighting in the Public Realm with Swansea Council & Arts Arkade September - October 2022

A period of software and hardware-based R+D, exploring, through testing and dialogue in the Arts Arkade space, the potential and practicality of interactive, LED-based artworks, sited in outdoor locations in the public realm. Supported by Swansea Council and Creative Wales.

'Responsive Artefacts' Research and Development with UWTSD & g39 April - June 2022

A period of R+D into the design and testing of objects within visual and sonic artworks, which promote and enable participant autonomy through a physically connected manipulation of their own immersive experiences. Supported by the Arts Council of Wales.

Mentored R&D Programme with ADDO arts organisation, Studio-based online sessions January - March 2021

A series of mentoring sessions for four Wales-based artists, with Addo and their network of 'critical friends', allowing artists time and space to develop an idea for a situated art project that acknowledges the complexity and specificity of communities and places and responds to contemporary concerns in the public realm. Supported by the Arts Council of Wales’ Cultural Recovery Fund.

 

The Night-time Blitz Experience with Artshell & Grangetown Local History Society, Cardiff May 2020 - January 2021

A project exploring the impact of the Blitz on Grangetown, working with local residents and youth groups at sites in Grangetown directly affected by the bombing. The resulting works were shared on the 80th anniversary of the Blitz, January 2nd 2021, as part of an online night-time tour, due to Covid restrictions. Supported by the Heritage Lottery.

What Makes a Home with Volcano Theatre and Coastal Housing Residents, Swansea April - July 2019

Four artist-resident collaborations exploring interpretations of what makes a home, realised through installation based outcomes, culminating in a 2-week show at the vacant Happy Home Furnishers building, Swansea. Supported by The Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

 

Artist Wellbeing Network Pilot Project Swansea July 2019 - present

A pilot project discussing issues affecting wellbeing, to identify the need for a local artist wellbeing network. Supported by NAWR.

 

The Life & Time of Gnarls Curtaco with Coastal Housing & Mission Gallery, Swansea March 2018 - March 2019

Responsive and participatory art-based activity exploring place and wellbeing in a community setting, culminating in a show by residents at Mission Gallery, Swansea. Supported by Coastal Housing, Mission Gallery & UWTSD.

DIY:11 CABIN FERVOUR with Live Art Development Agency & National Theatre Wales May 2014 - Dec 2014

DIY is an opportunity for artists working in Live Art to conceive and run unusual training and professional development projects for other artists. In our training programme CABIN FERVOUR; proximity, camaraderie and adventure crossed paths with reflection and discovery as a group of artists set sail on a two-day journey immersed in the elements, to look back at the Welsh landscape from a different perspective. Supported by Arts Council England.

 

CIVIC 2014 with Bella Kerr & Mission Gallery February 2014 - Present

Considering the City, Architecture, Art and the Urban Environment, CIVIC is intended as an interrogation of the city, an invitation to propose architectural and other interventions for a number of sites across Swansea. Collaborations between four artists and four architects, culminating in a 5-week show at Mission Gallery curated by Bella Kerr, 12th April - 2nd June 2014. Supported by the Arts Council of Wales.

 

Cape Farewell Art & Science Expedition with Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon January 2013 - 2016

A dialogue between artists and scientists focusing on the proposed tidal lagoon in Swansea bay, encouraging arts-based research methods and inter-disciplinary learning practices in order to stimulate a creative response. Supported by Tidal Lagoon.

Arts Arkade Digital Arts R&D Residency Arts Arkade, Swansea May 2022

A three-day residency at Arts Arkade, collaborating with other local artists and a PhD student from Swansea University’s Computational Foundry, to research and develop work for digital and public platforms.

CIVIC in Venice Residency Casa Dell'Ospitalita, Venice, Italy July 2016

A one-month residency living and working alongside 'homeless' guests at the Casa Dell'Ospitalita, Cannaregio, Venice, culminating in an exhibition at the Teatro Groggia.

Spit & Sawdust 24hr Residency Spit & Sawdust Skatepark, Cardiff October 2015

24 hour residency with three other artists and a curator in Spit & Sawdust Skate Park, Cardiff.

 

Gower College Artists in Residence Llwyn y Bryn, Swansea December - May 2015

A six-month residency in Gower College school of Art & Design, based in the Foundation block at Llwyn y Bryn campus, leading to the work Aequabilitum.

NTW Artist in Residence National Theatre Wales, Cardiff May 2014

A one-day collaborative residency carried out to show NTW what we’re all about, having been shortlisted for NTW Artist in Residence for the year.
