EAVESDROPPER
DUAL-SITE, INTERACTIVE & RESPONSIVE AUDIOVISUAL INSTALLATION

GLYNN VIVIAN ART GALLERY & SWANSEA MARKET, OCTOBER 2024

Eavesdropper explored ideas of conflict and communication through interactivity, sound and visuals. This dual-site installation invited viewers to adopt an active role in the realisation of the work, and consider how their presence affects their own experience, as well as the experience of others.

At site #1 (Swansea Market), participant sounds were recorded using a parabolic microphone, manipulated and sent to site #2 (Glynn Vivian Art Gallery). At site #2, participant movements were analysed using a proximity sensor, affecting the visuals, which were sent to site #1.

Each site broadcast both the audio and visuals, encouraging participants to communicate through sound and movement in two separate, yet connected locations.
