After looking through some of the images from the Glamorgan Archives, we were really interested in this structure, in the middle of the road, and Steve Duffy from Grangetown Local History Society told us it was a communal air raid shelter... 'They built dozens of them in streets where the gardens were not big enough for Anderson shelters or they were houses of multiple occupation'.
